First Impressions Count - Conference - Philip Boutle Remembered
They say first impressions count, and as some of you may know the parish office and welcome area of St. Helen's is looking a little tired after all the beautiful renovations in the rest of the building. Rupert has written some good articles on the subject in Grapevine (which I'll upload to the site next week), in summary we would like to improve our welcome at St. Helen's and make it a comfortable place to work and meet people. So please give what you can, so we can continue to bless others as they seek Jesus.
Today I'm off on a few days break to Suffolk, so the parish office will be open 9am - 11.30am tuesday - thursday, this week. I hope to re-charge the batteries and catch up with family and even paint some landscapes.
Last weekend seven members of the staff team went to Bracknell and participated in a leaders training conference run by Willow Creek. It was a very challenging experience and we all learnt useful skills. For me, the best part was the worship and spending time with Pam, Mavis, Joan, Terry, Rupert and Sally. We stayed at Ruperts first Curacy and (amongst other things) saw the very first version of 'Discoveries' shop (yes we live in a parallel universe!) and stayed with some lovely people.
Please pray for us folk who work in the Parish either in a paid capacity or as volunteers. We all serve with joy and thankfullness but it does have its ups and downs.
Finally, last week saw the sad death of Philip Boutle. Our prayers are very much with the family. The funeral, held at St. Helen's was very well attended and inspirational - a real sense of hope for the future and resurrection joy, even amongst such a terrible loss.
